One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in his temple.
— Psalm 27:4 ESV
In high school I chose the username, Gaze Upon Beauty because the words were beautiful and really stuck out to me. Now, that phrase means so much more to me. It’s practically a life motto.
My mentor would tell me a trick about cutting wrapping paper. If you stare at the end goal of where you want to cut, you’ll cut straight to it. In this life you also have to look at the end goal, the finish line. What is the end goal? To see Christ face to face. To enjoy God and glorify Him forever, in person, in intimacy, in heaven. Staring at yourself and your circumstances won’t be enough to get you through life. Staring at Him will not only guide you in this life, it will also give you joy, transform you, and make you more like Him. Gaze Upon the Ultimate Beauty and Prize.
