It’s finals season, and one of my papers asks about barriers that may keep me from developing in cultural competency once class is over. While researching on how to grow in cultural competency, I stumbled upon this recommended documentary on hate crimes after 9/11. It’s called Divided We Fall, and you can watch it here.
After the semester is over, I plan on watching this documentary and continuing to delve into articles, documentaries, and books about different sociocultural groups. It’s an exciting task to grow in cultural competency, but also overwhelming because of how diverse this world really is.
Woe is me, if I think the American, or Korean American, or Korean American Christian way is the only way to live life. I hope at the end of my time here on earth, I will live to say that every culture I have encountered has a beauty and truth in it.
